Particle board flooring
Also referred to as chipboard or low density fibreboard (LDF), particle board flooring is frequently used for interior flooring in residential builds. Structural grade particle board sheet flooring is suited for installation in platform construction projects where the floor is laid prior to the walls. As it’s made from waste products such as wood chips, shavings and sawdust, particle board is an affordable and accessible option.
Dahlsens supplies Australian Panels STRUCTAFlor yellow, red and blue tongue particle board products.
STRUCTAflor has been the trusted choice for flooring for over five decades, known for its strength, durability, and ease of installation. Made from responsibly sourced Australian plantation pine, it offers a moisture-resistant, tongue-and-groove system that’s easy to install.
General purpose boards meet AS/NZS 1860.1 standards, featuring a resin-enriched surface and yellow edge coating for quality in Australian homes.
Termite treated options offer termite protection with a blue edge and moisture-resistant resin, ideal for high-risk areas.
Ultimate (R-Floor) boards are designed for demanding environments, with a foil laminated layer and recognised as termite-resistant under the Building Code of Australia and AS 3660.1, providing moisture resistance and strength for commercial and industrial use.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC)
An extremely versatile product, AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) is a popular structural flooring product made from concrete and aluminium powder. During production, the aluminium powder causes the concrete to rise (similar to bread dough) and the resulting concrete product is about 80% air, making it strong yet lightweight. AAC is available in both slab and block form.
Not limited to structural flooring applications, AAC can also be used for internal or boundary walls, external cladding and even fencing for residential and commercial buildings. If your clients are seeking a sleek look without the hefty price tag, AAC is an attractive option. Customers who value sustainability will love that AAC is recyclable, and budget conscious clients could enjoy lower heating and cooling costs thanks to AAC’s high thermal mass.
Other benefits of AAC products include:
- Easy installation
- Excellent soundproofing qualities
- Termite resistant
- Fire resistant
- Easy to cut for plumbing and electrical access
Hebel PowerFloor
Hebel PowerFloor is made from prefabricated AAC panels reinforced with 75mm steel, which significantly improves the strength and durability of the product. PowerFloor can be easily installed over steel or timber joists, providing an ideal base for floor coverings such as carpets and tiles.
PowerFloor has no bounce or flex that is often present in particle board flooring, and is an ideal option for first floors, suspended ground floors, decks and balconies. Help your clients keep their home warmer in winter and cooler in summer by using PowerFloor products for your next project.
Power floor is available in size 1800x600x75.

Structural flooring FAQs
What is structured flooring?
Structured flooring, also known as engineered flooring, is a type of flooring made from multiple layers of different materials to enhance stability and durability. It typically features a real hardwood top layer, providing an authentic wood look, bonded to layers of plywood or high-density fibreboard (HDF) underneath. This multi-layered design reduces expansion and contraction, making it ideal for areas with fluctuating temperature and humidity. Structured flooring is versatile and can be installed as a floating floor, glued down, or nailed, depending on the subfloor. It combines the beauty of hardwood with added resilience, making it a popular choice for both residential and commercial spaces.
Subfloor Preparation Tips
Proper subfloor preparation is essential for the long-term performance of structural flooring. Here are some key tips: – Ensure the subfloor is completely dry before installation. Use moisture meters to check moisture content. – Level any uneven areas to prevent future issues with the flooring. – Clean the subfloor thoroughly, removing any debris or old adhesive residue. – For concrete subfloors, consider using a moisture barrier to prevent potential water damage.
