Led by Kane Harrison, Evolving Construction recently won the prestigious Master Builders Australia National Contract Home $1M to $2M in the National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards 2023.
The home, Nonpareil, located a stone’s throw from Pearl Beach on the Central Coast of NSW, is a multi-award winning project, having taken out seven significant industry awards.
Even though Kane is a passionate builder, winning the pinnacle award, the MBA Australian house of the year in its category, validates decades of effort and sacrifices; a journey that has been one of perseverance and dedication to the highest levels of craftsmanship.
“Our team has put in years of hard work and dedication to create these beautiful homes,” shared Kane. “We put a lot of heart and soul into our builds, making sure that every detail is crafted to the highest quality, so we are extremely proud and honoured with this fantastic result.”
Hurford’s Coulee cladding and creating shou sugi ban
Kane’s dedication to selecting the best products to create a unique, high end look with longevity, saw him consult closely with his Dahlsens account manager, Dave Milton, to select Hurford’s Wood Elements Coulee cladding for the exterior.
Kane then worked with Hurford’s to obtain rough sawn ironbark cladding with an off mill look.
This is broken up with shou sugi ban, also from Hurford’s, all fixed with a seamless secret screwed system.
In addition, Kane charred many other items himself such as columns, screening, and timber window frames to compliment the charred cladding.
“Personally I love to find the balance between colour, texture and performance,” said Kane.
Success and collaboration
