Fire resistant, water resistant, lightweight party wall and boundary wall systems
ProBoard’s party and boundary wall panel systems are a lightweight, ultra-thin solution designed to achieve a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of 60/60/60 and 90/90/90. This system serves as an ideal alternative to traditional materials like plasterboard or Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) panels.
ProBoard has engineered their panels to eliminate common issues associated with plaster products, such as mould and water damage. The 18mm panels can withstand exposure to the elements for up to six months without compromising integrity, ensuring they remain free from mould and water damage.

Key benefits of ProBoard panels
- Fire resistance: Tested to Australian Standard 1530.4, ProBoard panels have achieved FRLs of 60/60/60 and 90/90/90, providing robust fire protection.
- Water resistance: ProBoard panels are water-resistant, allowing for installation of the Fireless Party Wall System year-round without concern for weather-related damage.
- Mould and mildew resistance: These panels do not support the growth of mould or mildew, reducing potential rectification costs and ensuring a healthier building environment.
- Acoustic performance: The Fireless Party Wall System achieves an acoustic rating of no less than Rw+Ctr50, contributing to a quieter and more comfortable living space.
- Environmental friendliness: Utilising magnesium oxide (MgO), a responsibly sourced material, ProBoard panels boast a lower carbon footprint, making them a greener choice for construction projects.
- Durability: Designed to withstand Australia’s tough conditions, ProBoard panels offer high-impact resistance and long-term durability.
- Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of applications, including boundary walls, party walls, and feature walls in residential, multi-residential and commercial projects. They can be used internally and externally, with timber or steel frames, providing flexibility for various construction needs.
Simplifying compliance with CodeMark certification
ProBoard’s party wall system is CodeMark certified for classes 1 through 10, volumes 1 and 2 of the Building Code of Australia (BCA). This certification allows builders to confidently substitute traditional materials like plasterboard or AAC panels with ProBoard. The reduced thickness of ProBoard panels (18mm compared to 50mm or 25mm) enables the maintenance of the same overall wall thickness while providing a larger air gap, which correlates to improved acoustic ratings. As always, it’s essential to seek approval from a building certifier prior to changing party wall systems.
