Dahlsens is a 143-year-old, family owned and managed building materials supplier that began in the Victorian town of Bairnsdale in 1877. Today, we are one of Australia’s largest truss and frame manufacturers and operate 55 trade sites throughout the country.
Midcoast Timber Centres has been part of the Dahlsen group since 2011 when the Dahlsen family expanded into the greater Sydney market by purchasing Midcoast from founding owner Gary Goddard.
Trading separately to its sister companies Dahlsens, Cairns Hardware and Nortruss, Midcoast has gone from strength to strength, building upon its loyal customer base by delivering in full and on time a huge range of quality building supplies and prefabricated truss and frame, across their far-reaching network in Sydney and surrounds.
Late last year, we began merging the Midcoast business into the southern division of the Dahlsen group, known as Dahlsens Building Centres, or to most of you, simply Dahlsens.
We are excited to strengthen our business by combining Midcoast and Dahlsens to trade as one entity. This merge will enable us to be more efficient, allow us to share resources and increase competitive strength. It will position us to continue our journey to be your best choice in the market.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
It is business as usual, with our customer service uninterrupted. Key things to note:
- From 1 July, 2020, Midcoast will officially become Dahlsens across all sites
- Midcoast sites, vehicles, uniforms and communications will be progressively re-branded Dahlsens in the coming months
- You will continue to deal with the same store people you’re used to dealing with
- Our Whole of House product range will continue to expand
