Builder beware! 2022 updates to the National Construction Code (NCC) require more stringent condensation management to decrease health risks and building damage caused by high moisture levels.
Alpine Ventilation, innovative and reliable supply partner to Dahlsens, offer a range of advanced solutions that look good, protect your build and offer efficiencies in the building process while meeting NCC 2022 provisions. Here is a selection of leading solutions along with applicable NCC updates you need to be aware of.
Changes to roof and wall cavity ventilation
NCC 2022 condensation management targets roof and wall cavity ventilation under 10.8.2 (Exhaust Systems) and 10.8.3 (Ventilation of Roof Spaces) provisions. The higher levels of ventilation required include mechanical ventilation systems and passive or natural ventilation solutions.
10.8.2 Exhaust System Overview
- Exhaust fans, rangehood and vented clothes dryers must be vented externally to the outside air.
- Exhaust fans must have a minimum flow rate of 40L/sec.
- Some exhaust fans must be connected to the light switch with a run-on timer

10.8.3 Ventilation of the Roof Space Overview
- Some homes in certain climate areas require additional venting at the eave.
- Homes requiring venting at the eave with a pitch of less than 10 degrees also require additional roof venting.
