CSR Bradford Polymax Wall Batts

If you’re looking for polyester insulation which is versatile, easy to install and delivers on performance, look no further than Bradford Polymax premium polyester insulation.

CSR Bradford Fireseal

The Bradford Fireseal range is made from non-combustible Rockwool, an insulation material specially formulated to provide fire protection. It is manufactured by spinning a molten mixture of natural rock and recycled blast furnace waste products into fibres which are bonded with a thermosetting resin.

The Bradford Fireseal range includes products that meet fire regulations for specific applications, such as:

  • Party walls
  • Curtain walls
  • BAL – 12.5 to BAL – 40 and BAL – FZ rated

Insulation blankets

Kingspan AIR-CELL

Kingspan AIR-CELL is a versatile range of fibre-free flexible reflective insulation for roofs, walls and floors. The reflective foil reflects up to 97% of radiant heat away from its surface. The small amount of heat absorbed is then further reduced by the conductional resistance of the polymer air cell structure, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Kingspan AIR-CELL‘s resistance to all forms of heat flow translates into energy cost savings of up to 50% for the building occupier and reduced greenhouse gas emissions for the environment.

Bradford Anticon

Bradford Anticon combines two very effective forms of insulation into a single product to provide these benefits.

The reflective foil acts as a barrier, which reduces the radiant heat entering the roof space by up to 97% and also controls condensation, while the insulation blanket absorbs outside noise and dramatically slows the transfer of heat into and out of a home.

CSR Polyair Insulation

Bradford Polyair™ is a range of thermo reflective insulation products that reduce radiant heat gain in roofs and walls. The products can be used in a range of residential and shed applications.

Multitel BAL 12.5-40 Blanket

Bradford Multitel™ BAL 12.5-40 is used to seal off areas from potential ember ingress in bushfire prone areas.

Bradford Multitel™ is manufactured from an engineered glasswool insulation blanket. The blanket is manufactured by spinning molten glass, containing up to 80% recycled content, into fine wool like fibres.

These are bonded together using a thermosetting resin. The product can be identified by its golden appearance.

Rigid Insulation

Kingspan Kooltherm

Kingspan Kooltherm is an extensive range of rigid thermoset phenolic insulation for roofs, wall and floors. Easy to handle and install, it is the thinnest commonly used insulation board for any specific R-value. This means that you can benefit from reduced heating or cooling demand or use thinner boards to gain more space in your building. Kingspan rigid boards are becoming increasingly popular in residential buildings, helping to achieve a 7 Star energy efficiency rating and providing a more comfortable environment by minimising thermal bridging.

Kingspan GreenGuard

Kingspan GreenGuard is a fibre-free, extruded polystyrene rigid board suitable as slab edge insulation in residential projects.

Expol Underfloor Insulation

Expol Underfloor Insulation by Foamex is easily fitted to new and existing homes, including pole houses with suspended floors. Expol will ensure your client’s home is protected year-round from extreme temperatures.

Manufactured using the highest quality, Australian made expanded polystyrene, Expol features flame retardant properties and contains no CFC’s. Designed to fit snugly between timber floor joists, with concertina cuts on both sides of the panel that allow for compression of up to 20mm.

StyroTherm

StyroTherm is a proven insulation product, ideal for slab edge and under slab insulation.

Manufactured in Australia from Styroboard XPS – the highest quality extruded polystyrene – StyroTherm is a highly compressive and durable product. Versatile and easy to install in any weather, StyroTherm extruded polystyrene sheets can be used to deliver a robust slab edge insulation system, helping prevent thermal bridging around the perimeter of a home, as well as under residential or commercial concrete slabs to provide additional insulation benefits. StyroTherm sheets are suitable for use in moist environments with no loss in thermal resistance, and they will retain their dimensional stability.

StyroSheet

Ideal for insulating walls, floors and garage doors, StyroSheet is manufactured in Australia from the industry leading Styroboard EPS expanded polystyrene.

As an insulation material, StyroSheet can be used for both external and internal insulation requirements across commercial and residential building applications. Suitable for use on steel stud, timber stud, concrete and masonry structures, StyroSheet provides an efficient and economical insulation solution.

StyroPod

StyroPod is an engineered waffle pod void former system for concrete slabs.

Designed specifically for use in residential building applications, StyroPod waffle pods provide under slab insulation and support, working in unison with natural soil movements, and lowering the amount of concrete required for a build. With the StyroPod system, construction is quicker and more cost effective compared to traditional concrete pours. A higher level of insulation is achieved through the natural air pockets in the expanded polystyrene and the moulded cells within the waffle pod design. StyroPod waffle pods can be used with any bracket and steel reinforcing mesh systems.

Roof sarking

Acting as a protective second skin under your roof, roof sarking provides benefits such as:

  • Protecting against mould and ceiling damage caused by roof leaks
  • Limiting the amount of dust that can enter a home

Roof sarking is available in a range of insulation types with additional capabilities such as improving a homes thermal performance or providing a secondary form of ember protection for BAL regions ranging from 12.5 to 40.

Roof sarking regulations

According to the Building Code of Australia (BCA), it is mandatory to sark all tiled, residential roofs with a rafter length over 6 metres. This regulation applies regardless of roof pitch. The BCA has other requirements relating to how a building is protected from external moisture, so it is considered best practice in the building industry to sark all tiled and metal roofs during the initial build.

Ask Dahlsens about our competitive pricing for roof sarking installation services. Roof sarking is installed under tiles and helps to minimise water damage caused from weather events such as wind-driven rain.

Builders wraps, membranes and air barriers

Whatever the building membrane you require for your next build, Dahlsens has a solution. Our team are here to support you with a range of options including Class 4 vapour permeable building wrap, reflective wrap, breather wrap and air barriers.

What R rating should ceiling installation be?

There are a range of insulation R rating requirements depending on the climate zone the project is being built in.

This table shows recommended R-values for roofs, walls, and floors based on climate zones, colour of the roof (indicating absorptance), and direction of heat flow. The values vary depending on these factors to help optimise insulation for different environmental conditions.

Insulation FAQs

How many different insulation types are there?

There are 2 main types of insulation products:

  • bulk: which primarily affects conduction heat flow between objects that are touching
  • reflective foil: which primarily affects radiation heat flow.

What is the best type of insulation?

The most effective type of insulation is bulk insulation. It works by capturing millions of tiny pockets of still air within its structure. These air pockets create resistance to heat flow, giving the material its insulating power. It’s essential not to compress bulk insulation, as this reduces the air pockets and diminishes its ability to insulate. Bulk insulation comes in forms such as batts, blankets, and boards, or as loose fill.

Insulation benefits

Insulation offers numerous benefits, enhancing comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability in homes and buildings. Here are some key advantages:

  1. Improved Energy Efficiency
  2. Enhanced Comfort
  3. Noise ReductionEnvironmental Impact: Reduced energy usage lowers greenhouse gas emissions, making insulation a sustainable choice that contributes to environmental conservation.
  4. Condensation Control
  5. Increased Property Value
  6. Fire Protection
  7. Extended Lifespan of HVAC Systems
